OCTOBER UPDATE

"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness"

As we bid farewell to what could only be described as an eventful summer and learn to adapt to the new restrictions of table service, the rule of 6 and the 10.00 pm curfew, we still have lots of positive things to share with you. Our new Autumnal menu has launched and features such treats as partridge and venison on the monthly menu and the pub favourites menu showcases even more of an Italian influence from my culinary past. We continue to offer our ever popular midweek specials

Our Story

Mark met wife Sandra when they both worked at Carluccio's in Windsor. Mark worked with Antonio Carluccio himself and spent time at the ICIF culinary institute in Turin.

In 2011 Mark and Sandra decided to leave Carluccios and embark on managing their own pub restaurant; The Three Tuns in Henley on Thames. It was a big challenge and a huge learning curve but over time the reputation of good food and a warm welcome began to grow and The Three Tuns became a very successful business.

In 2014 they decided it was time for pub number two and they found The Chequers Inn at Berrick Salome and fell in love with it. They have now said goodbye to the 'Tuns' and are concentrating all their efforts on The Chequers.

The Chequers continues to succeed as more people discover it and recommend it to others but Mark is determined not to become over complacent as there is always scope for improvement. 

They hope that with a simple ethos of using great ingredients, local where possible, to produce high quality dishes combined with an attentive, personal service they will continue to pave the way to success. They hope you will visit soon and enjoy your time at The Chequers.

Excellent Meal...

'We met some friends here as it was halfway between our respective homes and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed a southern fried chicken burger and treacle tart for dessert which were both delicious.
